But this is a blog that people have to go out of their way to read, so I can say what I like. And my opinion is that Islam, like all other religions, is weird and wrong.

It was a superficial post, but it didn't need to be anything deeper because "spirituality" is a load of nonsense in the first place. I don't doubt that many people gain a fair bit of satisfaction and contentment from doing things like this but that doesn't make the religion and its associated dogmas any more true. And truth is what I care about.

Thanks for the comment though! Out of curiosity, how did you find me?Dylanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17513581174055687750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9142508898494267888.post-8105071977537485472011-08-07T01:50:32.651+01:002011-08-07T01:50:32.651+01:00I'd have preferred to read a comment of someon...I'd have preferred to read a comment of someone who really knows what Ramadan is about but I fear you were not well informed. In addition, whether you are Muslim, Christian, Orthodox, Budhist or even atheist, it's common to respect the beliefs of others. The term "stupid" cannot be uttered.

The month of Ramadan = spiritual reflection, prayer+ recitation of the Quran + prayers +endurance and self-discipline. It is a month of training both the soul and body to make oneself a better person. Now fasting in this month is tied with rules and regulations and there are categories of people who are exempt from fasting like pregnant women, sick persons and travellers.

There are benefits from this month that are more rich to be ignored or ridiculed. Gaining spiritual self purification isn't the only goal in this month. To forbid oneself from eating food, you get the motivation to forbid yourself from doing what is prohibited to be done as gambling, cheating, etc.
Fasting in August will make you feel thirsty and hungry and feel closer to the poor, this will make you more generous in your donations.

There are other benefits but all you state above is very superficial I fear.humillishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14024556374762038108noreply@blogger.com
